ULTRA to the Small Screen.

It appears that CBS has approved a pilot for the comic book ULTRA by the Luna Bros. The pilot will be produced by Barbara Hill who is responsible for shows like Joan Of Arcadia and Judging Amy. Like the comic, the story will revolve around the character Ultra and her alter ego Pearl Penalosa. The comic is very well written and I hope they let the Bros have input on the final project. No air date has been set at this time.

Wacko-Jacko Strikes Again.

I would really like to know what goes thru Michael Jackson's head sometime (ok,,maybe not really). After slippin g out of a court case, he disappears for a few months and now shows up in public looking like a mix between an Arab woman and Darth Vader. Bad enough he comes out like this, but does he really have to subject the little kid to his weird behavior. What's next,,furry animal suits as a disguise.

X3 Beast Marquette.

Another upcoming Marquette from Sideshow Collectibles and Spectral Motion will be of the Beast from X3. Again they have produced an amazing detail statue that is based off the actual marquettes made for production of the movie. I only have 2 complaints about this one, the color appears to be too light (this might change with the final product) and why is he naked????? I have been reading X-Men since I was a kid and have never seen the beast strutting around naked, especially just standing around reading a book. Put some pants on man !!

This one will again be the 1:3 scale and retail for $299.00.

New Bond Girl.........Again.

Just a week after the announcement that Rose Byrne had snagged the role of Vesper Lynd, it has now been officially stated that actress Thandie Newton will now have the role in the new James Bond movie Casino Royale. Thandie 's past credits include Mission : Impossible 2, Crash, Chronicles Of Riddick and Interview With The Vampire.

I personally like the choice of Rose Byrne better, but we will have to see the final product when the movie is released. And hopefully they don't change their minds again next week.

Hey I think Whoppie Goldberg might be available for the part.

Nobuyoshi Araki

Nobuyoshi Araki is one of the most influencial and controversial photographers of our time and finally a definitive collection of his art will be released in the coming months. Nobuyoshi Araki : Self, Life, Death will be published by Phaidon and retail for $75.00 us. Araki's photos range from the beautiful, as seen here, to the exotic and sometime disturbing. His images are primarily of women and his unique fascination with bondage, death and the sex trade in Tokyo. I know that some will be turned off by certain topic matter, but the art itself in truly amazing, from the crisp B + W to the vivid use of color and light. The book will contain 1,200 photographs and the first English translation of the artists writings. There have been past releases of photo books, but they are all imported from Japan and are in the Japanese language. The 2 that I own I was lucky enough to have translated by a friend from Japan and hopefully the English release will be of the same quality as the imported books.

1 Wedding and a Spidey Suit.

The New Avengers are still going strong, and still at the top of the comic charts. Brian Michael Bendis, (who now appears to be writing every comic published by Marvel), has been weaving a great story and has strong characters to build on.

New Avengers Annual #1 will feature the wedding of Luke Cage and Jessica Jones. The story of these two characters has been going on for a few years now through the pages of Alias, The Pulse and New Avengers. The picture here is the cover for the Annual.

New Avengers #19 will show off Spider-Man new costume designed by Iron Man himself Tony Stark (would never have guessed by the color scheme). What is it with Spidey and his gimmicky costume, I had enough of them back with the silver and black Spidey armor. I think this costume looks horrible and the spider-legs on the back are just awful. Let's just keep poor Spidey in his old classic red and blue. What do you think ????

Piranha Re-Make

Another old movie takes to the remake trail. This time its the 1978 classic Piranha. Dimension Films will helm the remake with Chuck Russell to Direct. Chuck also directed The Mask, Scorpion King, Eraser, The Blob remake and Nightmare on Elm Street 3.

The original was a camp-fest at its best and told the story of genetically altered fisheys that were released and eat their full of unsuspecting swimmers. And just like any movie from that time, there is the intelligent scientist/explorer/doctor/etc that tries to warn the money-hungry property owner that the beasties are coming and he totally ignores them, people die and hero kills the monster.

The new movie has the fish as prehistoric creatures emerging from a lake bed in Arizona after a earthquake to wreak havok on unsuspecting swimmers.

Another Spider-Man 3 Announcement.

Another character has been announced for the upcoming Spider-Man 3 movie. This time its Peter Parkers' first love Gwen Stacy. Gwen will be played by Ron Howard's daughter Bryce Dallas Howard, who appeared in The Village and stars as the water-nymph in M. Night Shyamalan's upcoming Lady In The Water.

Gwen Stacy was Peter's love before Mary Jane and died at the hands of the original Green Goblin atop the Golden Gate Bridge. So some continuity tampering is going to occur in the story to make this all work. Columbia has yet to spill any tidbits about the story, expect that there will be a love triangle that involves Gwen, Peter and Mary Jane.

Juggernaut X3 Marquette

Here is a great look at the upcoming X3 Juggernaut Marquette, produced by Sideshow Collectibles and Spectral Motion. The detail is just amazing, especially in the face close-up and it will be in 1:3 scale with base. It costs little more than I would shell out, lowest price on the web being $265.00 so far, but a true X-fan will want to scoop this puppy right up.

And don't forget to check out my renters spot at Scooter McGavin's 9th Green.

New Bond Girl Finally Cast.

Just weeks before shooting is about to start, it looks like the role of Vesper Lynd has been given to 26 year-old Australian actress Rose Byrne. Rose played Briseis in Troy and has also been in Star Wars EP III and Wicker Park.

Im glad the role has finally been cast, and Danial Craig sure has a gorgeous leading lady to play off of now. But what has happened to all the great bond girl names we have come to expect,,,like Pussy Galore, Dr. Goodhead, Alotta Vagina (oops,,sorry that was Austin Powers.)

Another Beast Pic.

I know I just posted a picture of Kelsey Grammer as the Beast from X3, but I saw this one and I still cannot get over how great he looks in character. It is going to be interesting to see how he comes over in the movie.

"oh my stars and garters"

Funny Tag.

I saw this over on Ralph Undens' Blog and wanted to give it a quick post here for more people to see. I think this tag is just hilarious. Apparently the manufacturer really knows what goes on with kids and their clothes.

Boy,,,if my Mom could see this.

FX Scoops Up Superman Returns.

FX once again beats all the other major networks to the punch and lands the TV broadcast rights to Superman Returns, 6 months before the movie even releases. This is not the first time they have corned a big action flick. In the past they had the broadcast rights to Spiderman 2, X2 and more recently Fantastic Four and Batman Begins. The network has agreed to pay Warner Bros. about 12% of the eventual domestic gross, with a cap between $17 and $25 million. Superman Returns will premier on TV in early 2009. The movie will first appear on on HBO pay-per-view as part of HBO's standing deal with Warner Bros.

First Look at Sandman !

Sony has finally released a picture of one of the new villians from Spider-Man 3. Actor Thomas Haden Church will be playing Clint Marko AKA The Sandman. The costume is a exact match to the old classic Sandman duds and he really looks good in character.

X-Men 3 ....Better and Better...

It is not very often when a sequel is better than the original. Well that happened with X-Men. X2 was a far superior movie to the first, with a amped up story-line and the addition of Nightcrawler and that ever so brief shot of Colossus in action. Now X3 looks ready to eclipse them both. The trailer that has been released is just amazing, and if you get a chance watch it at the official website so you can pause and reverse it at spots to see interesting tidbits you might miss as it plays by. The story-line this time seems awe-inspiring and the addition of new mutants to the cast is staggering. Out front is the Beast and a more expanded role for Colossus. Also the Angel, Juggernaut, Callisto, Kitty Pryde, Psylocke and more flesh out the cast. Here are a couple pictures released so far.

This picture speaks for itself, if you ever had to picture Angel as a flesh and blood character, this is what he would look like. It will be interesting to see where this scene fits into the movie.

The Beast, WOW. He looks just amazing. Who would think that Kelsey Grammer could pull this off. His voice and attitude fit the character of Hank McCoy, and the Beast make-up is really impressive. Also the scenes of him in action on the trailer are cool.

New Aquaman....No Orange Shirt !!

Hey dude, nice threads.

After being a hit with the appearance of Aquaman on Smallville, the WB network has finally cast someone to fill the trunks of DC's favorite water breather. 28 year old Will Toale will play Arthur Curry (Aquaman) in the upcoming WB series that will shoot a pilot in march and aim for a fall tv spot. The show will helmed by the creators of Smallville, Alfred Gough and Miles Miller. On a down note, this Aqiaman will not be the King of Atlantis, he will just own a surf-shop. And no orange and green outfit, come-on,,,we need that stylin outfit.

Happy Friday The 13th !

So today is Friday the 13th. Beware of black cats, ladders, broken mirrors, cracks in the sidewalk, old ladies with moles and maniac killers in hockey masks. Otherwise, have a great day !

Just enter the site and click the link at the top that say "The Rider Revealed". It short,,,but sweet.

What I'm Reading This Week .

Recently I visited the B. Dalton Bookstore at the Circle Center Mall in Indianapolis. They are going out of business at that location so all books where 50-70% of the cover price. So after about 3 hrs of shopping and $150.00 buck later I left with 2 heaping bags of books. 1 of the books I found was Dead Roses For A Blue Lady by Nancy Collins. I have been a Sonja Blue fan for years and was very surprised to find this collection that I had never read.(and 70% of was nice too). Nancy Collins created the Sonja Blue character some years ago and this collections has some stories that are brand new to this collection and a few that have appeared in past chap-books and special magazines. Sonja is a vampire, but a vampire with a conscience. She hunts and destroys other vampires and various dark creatures. Over the years the Blue Lady stories have never disappointed and these new new short stories cover all aspects of the character, and the first story in the book even pre-dates the Sonja stories with some background on the origin of Sonjs's sliver blade. Nancy Collins' style is very narrative and at times with a touch of the erotic. Other collections are The Sonja Blue Collection which collects the first few books and other single stories like A Dozen Black Roses and In The Blood.
Another purchase this week was Astonishing X-Men Vol 2 : Dangerous. This is the second part of the first 12 issue arc written by Joss Whedon with art by John Cassaday. Joss is best know as the creator or Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, FirFly and Serenity. This trade is really amazing and is some of the best X-Men stories out today. Joss has taken the X-Men and brought them back to their base roots, back to team dynamics and back in costume (the X-movie leather look was really getting old). Here we learn more about Emma Frost, some more relationship building between Kitty and Pete and Wolverine doing what he does best. Cassaday's art really brings the characters to life and the details are truly amazing. Just make sure you pick up the first trade before diving into this one. Also the last page really gets the reader pumped up for what will happen in the next 12-issue arc starting this month.

Go Longhorns !

Way to go Texas, Rose Bowl Champs. It was a real nail-biter, but Texas came thru in the end.

Web-Site of the Week.

This is a great site for anyone interested in DVD's.

Doom9.net is a very informative site that deals with the backup of DVD video and audio. Yes this can be a very touchy subject to some, but the site lets you know what the legal stance is on this topic. They offer tons of downloads and have a very nice forum where you can see problems that other readers are having and sometime answer problems of your own.

A cool program that I picked up there is AnyDVD. This little gem sits in the background of your computer and runs when you put a DVD into your drive. It will make the dvd player read the disc as region free. This is a big plus for me because I have a large collection of foreign non-region 1 discs that before I could only watch on my region-free PAL decoder player. Most computers only let you change your region code 4 times, so this program does wonders for me.

Now please don't take from this post that I promote or encourage the copying of copyrighted DVD discs. This is just a very informative sight that offers ideas and programs for many uses.
Check it out, there might be something there that interests you. If you get time after you check it out, drop me a line and let me know what you think.

Enjoy.

Back Again .

Hello to all, after a bit of a hiatus I am finally back to start updating this blog. A lot has occurred over the Holidays and now I can finally start paying more attention here.

"I tried so hard and went so far, but in the end it doesn't really matter."
